Red Ribbon Week: Prevention Starts With Awareness
Each year, Red Ribbon Week serves as a national reminder of the importance of drug abuse prevention and the role we all play in protecting our families and communities.
Each year, Red Ribbon Week serves as a national reminder of the importance of drug abuse prevention and the role we all play in protecting our families and communities.
The campaign began in honor of DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who was killed by drug traffickers in 1985. What started as a tribute to his courage grew into a nationwide movement symbolizing a shared commitment to preventing drug abuse and its devastating consequences.
Red Ribbon Week is more than wearing a red ribbon. It represents the power of education, awareness, and conversations that can influence decisions and save lives. As the drug landscape continues to evolve, ensuring individuals and families understand the risks of substance abuse is more important than ever.
For MAPDA, Red Ribbon Week reinforces our mission to empower families with knowledge, encourage life-saving conversations, and strengthen prevention efforts before tragedy occurs.
Know the Risk. Prevent the Next One.
