Meet Dr. Lisa Bane, a devoted mom of four, veterinarian, and passionate advocate for healthier communities. Having lived and worked in both California and Colorado, Lisa previously owned a veterinary clinic in Telluride and an animal acupuncture practice in Marin County. Most recently, she helped establish a low-income veterinary clinic in Durango, Colorado, providing care to underserved families and their pets.

Through her work, Lisa has rescued dogs from meth houses, cared for the pets of individuals experiencing homelessness or struggling with substance use disorder, and witnessed firsthand the profound bond between people and their animals. Those experiences strengthened her commitment to helping address the devastating impact drugs have on individuals, families, and communities.

As a MAPDA mom and volunteer, Lisa is passionate about protecting young people and helping families navigate today’s challenges. She is especially passionate about raising awareness of the growing presence of vaping products and the ease with which teenagers can access them. As students head back to school, MAPDA’s “Stronger Together” campaign with KESQ encourages families to start important conversations about the risks of vaping and the importance of prevention. Lisa will be featured in an upcoming KESQ interview, where she’ll share why this issue is so important to her.

Lisa and her husband live in Durango, where their home is often filled with several pets, a rescue dog, a recovering cat, or a litter of nursing kittens. When they’re not caring for animals, they enjoy hiking, skiing, and are looking forward to traveling once their youngest graduates from high school this spring.
